Welcome to Coastal Christian School!
Thank you for visiting our website. It is a true privilege to serve as Head of School, and I am honored to lead a community devoted to faith, academic excellence, and the flourishing of every student. Coastal Christian is a place where children are personally known, genuinely cared for, and intentionally guided toward the individuals God created them to become.
At CCS, education is about more than achievement—it is about formation. Through strong relationships, high standards, and a distinctly Christ-centered foundation, we seek to shape both hearts and minds. Our aim is to be life-preparatory, not simply college-preparatory, cultivating intellectual curiosity, Christlike character, and confident leadership. When students are nurtured spiritually, academically, socially, and physically, they are equipped not only for college, but for lives of meaning and service.
Our mission remains at the center of all we do:
To partner with parents to prepare students to serve God in all of life by providing excellence in the spiritual, academic, social, and physical aspects of education.
Partnership with families is foundational to who we are. We value shared vision, open communication, and a strong, connected community. If you are considering CCS for your family, I invite you to schedule a campus visit and experience firsthand what makes our school so special.
Thank you for your interest in Coastal Christian School. I look forward to partnering with you.

Welcome to Coastal Christian School!
This is an exciting time for Coastal Christian School and I’m honored to serve as the interim head of school for the 2025-26 school year. Although I am learning about CCS as perhaps many of you are as well, I am struck by what a unique and welcoming place this is. I am reminded of one of my favorite passages from the Bible. The prophet Jeremiah says this in chapter 29, verse 11, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
The potential and the future for CCS is bright indeed. The value and impact of an extraordinary Christian education is the most important investment any parent can make in their children. We are confident that CCS provides the amazing experience you are seeking. At our core is a mission—a window into the vision we embrace: To partner with parents to prepare students to serve God in all of life by providing excellence in the spiritual, academic, social, and physical aspects of education. This mission describes an intentional method of teaching and learning that describes our vision to be the top school choice of Central Coast families where Biblical education is instilled and Christian leaders are raised.
We understand that you are seeking something unique for your children’s education. And you are looking for the right fit for your family. As our mission declares, at CCS we admit students, but our relationship—our partnership with your family—is the foundation of who we are and what we do. This is the promise of the CCS experience and an expectation you should anticipate.
While there are many facets to the CCS education, our focus is on the relationship between teacher and student. It is here where something truly exceptional happens. Our faculty are committed to the success of your student and dedicated to achieving excellence in every aspect of instruction. More than words in our mission statement, they represent a genuine commitment to your Experience.
This website is designed to guide you through the admissions process, answer questions, and provide additional insight to what you can expect from CCS. However, nothing compares to actually visiting our campus. I invite you to come and see firsthand a school living out its mission and vision every day. As in the passage from Jeremiah 29:11, our desire is in creating a plan for you and your student—a plan to give you hope and a future.
Welcome to CCS!

School Profile
Located on our wooded, 27-acre facility nestled in the beautiful hills of Pismo Beach, California, Coastal Christian School has been serving the Christian community for more than 40 years. Our K-12 education is rooted in the eternal Word of God, and a Christian worldview is reflected in every activity at our school. Our highly experienced faculty, staff, administration, and board are committed to faith in Jesus Christ, ensuring that our children are taught by a team committed to the Lord and to Christ-centered, Biblical education.
Our teachers and classrooms provide a loving, nurturing, and challenging environment where each student is accepted and valued as a child of God. We partner with parents by providing quality, academic education designed to develop students who will follow Christ, embrace Biblical truth, and live lives that glorify God. Our goal as a school is to infuse Christ into everything we do. Our weekly chapel services include outdoor, student-led music and worship overlooking the beautiful knolls of God’s creation here on the Central Coast.
We focus on the development of the “whole child” in regards to education and each student’s place in the family of God. Each student’s daily life includes everything from technology classes to competitive sports programs to fine arts and music. We instill a humble, service mentality by providing opportunities for students and staff to serve in our local community as well as across the globe with programs that help children in need. We firmly believes that the total learning experience must be rooted not just in rigorous academics, but also in the development of technological skills and analytical thinking. Students learn a pattern for life built on the certainty of God’s Word and the confidence that they can do all things though Christ who gives them strength. (Phil 4:13)
“I advise no one to place his child where the Scriptures do not reign paramount. Every institution in which men are not increasingly occupied with the Word of God must become corrupt. I am much afraid that schools will prove to be the great gates of hell unless they diligently labor in explaining the Holy Scriptures, engraving them in the hearts of youth.”

A Bit of CCS History...
Foundations
Coastal Christian School was founded in 1971 as the Central Coast Christian Academy by parents who desired a Christian education for their children. The school opened with an enrollment of 39 students in grades K-6. In January, 1972, grades 7 and 8 were added, and a high school program was added in 1978. The name of the school was eventually changed to Coastal Christian School in 1986 to reflect its multi-church sponsorship.
CCS opens its doors in 1971
Expansion
It became obvious early on that God had a grand vision for our school when, in 1977, a local developer named Reuben Kvidt donated roughly 27 acres of prime Pismo Beach land to CCS. After nearly 40 years of prayer, persistence, and overcoming hurdles, we broke ground with the building of our new facility in 2013. Construction of this first phase was completed in September 2014, and Coastal Christian School relocated to its current location on Oak Park Boulevard in Pismo Beach.
Hopeful for the new campus
Forward in Faith
Moving forward in faith, we are beyond excited about the next phase of what we believe is God’s plan for CCS: a multipurpose gymnasium, amphitheater, expanded technology program, and fine arts program.
“’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”
– Jeremiah 29:11 –
Statement of Faith
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible and authoritative Word of God.
We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His bodily return in power and glory.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto eternal life, and they that are lost unto everlasting damnation.
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe that marriage has been instituted by God. Marriage is defined as the exclusive covenantal union of a man and a woman in which such union is a lifetime commitment. A civil government’s sanction of a union will be recognized as a legitimate marriage only to the extent that it is consistent with the definition of marriage found in the Bible.
We believe that legitimate sexual relations are exercised solely within marriage. Hence, sexual relations outside of marriage are incompatible with the biblical witness.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit who indwells the Christian, empowering him to live a godly life.
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
– Hebrews 11:6 –
